Introduction

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement relates to actions and activities during the financial year 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.


The statement sets down CB Staffing Group Limited commitment to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our business activities and the steps we have put in place with the aim of ensuring that there is no slavery or human trafficking in our own business and supply chains. We all have a duty to be alert to risks, however small. Staff are expected to report their concerns and management to act upon them. 


Organisational structure and supply chains

This statement covers the business activities of CB Staffing Group Limited, a leading recruitment agency specialising in warehousing & logistics, manufacturing, commercial, oil & gas and engineering.


We have been providing comprehensive staffing solutions to businesses of all sizes, from startups to multinational corporations.


The Company currently operates in the United Kingdom.

Risk Assessment Process:

CB Staffing Group Limited conducts a comprehensive risk assessment process to identify activities within its operations that may be at high risk in relation to modern slavery or human trafficking. This process involves:


Activity-Based Risk Assessment: We assess specific activities within our recruitment processes and operations for their potential risk of contributing to modern slavery or human trafficking. This includes candidate sourcing, screening procedures, contract management, and candidate placements.



High-Risk Activities:

The following activities are considered to be at high risk of modern slavery or human trafficking within CB Staffing Group Limited:


Candidate Sourcing: Despite operating within the UK, certain industries or sectors may be associated with higher risks of labour exploitation or human trafficking. Therefore, candidate sourcing from such sectors requires diligent monitoring.


Candidate Screening: Ensuring thorough background checks and verification processes for candidates is crucial to prevent inadvertent engagement with individuals who may be victims of modern slavery or trafficking.


Contract Management: Managing client contracts and ensuring compliance with ethical labour practices is essential to mitigate the risk of modern slavery within our placements.



Responsibility for Anti-Slavery Initiatives:

Policies: The HR Manager is responsible for creating and reviewing policies related to modern slavery and human trafficking prevention within our UK operations. Policies are developed through research into best practices, legal requirements, and tailored to address specific risks within the recruitment industry.


Risk Assessments: The Health and Safety Manager oversees risk assessments concerning human rights and modern slavery within our UK operations. This includes evaluating risks associated with candidate sourcing, screening processes, and contractual obligations to clients.


Due Diligence: The Compliance Department is responsible for conducting due diligence in relation to known or suspected instances of modern slavery and human trafficking within the UK context. This involves investigating any reported concerns, conducting audits where necessary, and collaborating with relevant authorities or industry partners.



Training

All staff members are required to complete training on modern slavery and human trafficking risks within our UK operations to ensure awareness and compliance with our policies and procedures..



Policies

The Company is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or our supply chains. This Statement affirms its intention to act ethically in our business relationships.


The following policies set down our approach to the identification of modern slavery risks and steps to be taken to prevent slavery and human trafficking in our operations

Whistleblowing policy

Employees may, in properly carrying out their duties, have access to, or come into contact with, information of a confidential nature. Their terms and conditions provide that except in the proper performance of their duties, employees are forbidden from disclosing, or making use of in any form whatsoever, such confidential information.

However, the law allows employees to make a ‘protected disclosure’ of certain information. In order to be ‘protected’, a disclosure must relate to a specific subject matter (clause 2) and the disclosure must also be made in an appropriate way (clause 3). Whistleblowing protection is confined to a disclosure which, in the reasonable belief of the employee making the disclosure, is made in the public interest.



Specific Subject Matter


If, in the course of employment, an employee becomes aware of information which they reasonably believe tends to show one or more of the following: 


  • That a criminal offence has been committed, is being committed or is likely to be committed.
  • That a person has failed, is failing or is likely to fail to comply with any legal obligation to which he is subject.
  • That a miscarriage of justice that has occurred, is occurring, or is likely to occur.
  • That the health or safety of any individual has been, is being, or is likely to be, endangered.
  • That the environment, has been, is being, or is likely to be, damaged.
  • That information tending to show any of the above, is being, or is likely to be, deliberately concealed.

they must use the Company’s disclosure procedure as set out below.



Disclosure Procedure


  • Information which an employee reasonably believes tends to show one or more of the above should promptly be disclosed to a CB Staffing Group Manager, on 01257442777, so that any appropriate action can be taken.
  • If it is inappropriate to make such a disclosure to the manager, the employee should speak to CB Staffing Group Director, David Bowles, on 01257442830.
  • Employees will suffer no detriment of any sort for making such a disclosure in accordance with this procedure.
  • However, failure to follow this procedure may result in the disclosure of information losing its ‘protected status.’ 
  • For further guidance in relation to this matter or concerning the use of the disclosure procedure generally, employees should speak in confidence to a CB Staffing Group Manager, on 01257442777.
